The Anarchists were (from left to right above) Frankie McLaughlin, Paul Taggart, Peter Sammons and Mickey Taggart R.I.P.

This Omagh band started life as Bird Shit but soon changed their name to The Anarchists and they gigged in and around the Omagh area in the late 70’s early 1980s playing original compositions and punk covers such as the Sex Pistols 'Pretty Vacant' and The Mekons 'Where Were You'. Some live recordings of the band exist.

After the band split their guitarist and songwriter Paul Taggart later formed a couple of bands after the punk scene had 'died’ – first, Family Entertainment, Clay Culture and then, The Slaggarts. See elsewhere on this site for details on Family Entertainment.

The Slaggarts formed in 1996 playing their debut gig in May. They played extensively around the North, Leitrim and Donegal as a traditional punk band and released a cassette only album in June 1996 and a 4 track CD EP entitled Live Like The Indians in May 2000, recorded at Mudd Wallace's Homestead Studio. The Slaggarts cited their diverse influences from pUnk to Christy Moore.

In 2002 Paul released Tales from A Whiskey Town on the Hibernopop Music under the name PP Slaggart. This was followed In Sept 2006 by the critically acclaimed album The Ramblings Of The Dangerous McDaid which he self-financed. There was also a low budget film entitled Dangerous Dam McDaid “The Man Who never Was!’ which featured music from the album. This was released on DVD in conjunction with RiverRow Creative Arts Limited. A final album, entitled Down With The Tyrants was released in 2009.
