Palace of Variety were a three piece, based in Bangor, County Down. They were formed in the early 80’s, from the ashes of 5 Column by Adrian Maddox guitar & vocals. Be was ably assisted by Robert Scott bass, and ‘Monkey’ Drums. Robert had previously played in The Doubt. Influences included Killing Joke and Chairman of the Board.

They gigged locally, featured in local fanzines and had one memorable TV appearance on 26th September 1984 on the BBC 1 Youth Programme ‘Channel One, where they performed ‘Be Special’ (see below) and the cover of The Chairmen of he Boards’ ‘Gimme Just A Little More Time’, before they disappeared without trace.
