SELF DEFENCE

Self Defence were a short lived Skinhead combo formed in Belfast in early 1983. They consisted of Frankie Lenaghan on Vocals, Robin Robinson at the drum stool, Albert Irvine on Bass and Davy Pritchard on Lead Guitar. In their short time together they did however manage to play a handful of gigs and penned some original compositions including “Unexploded Bomb” and “Castaway”. They filled out their set with covers by artists such as the 4 Skins “Wonderful World and “Sorry”.

A live recording of the band exists, which includes their track Castaway – sing along now " We live in Northern Ireland there’s nothing else to do, the upper class people are looking down on you , politicians argue , sharpening up their knives, they don’t seem to really care  which way we live our lives... Cause we’re a Castaway"

On 29th March 2022 Spit Records released Shellshock Rockers Vol. 3, a compilation CD of previously unreleased tracks, all salvaged from old cassette tapes, which included 'Unexploded Bomb' by Self Defence. You can listen to the track below.
