THE STILLBORNS

The Stillborns were a four piece punk band from Belfast. The lineup featured Marty Ack on bass, Romeo on vocals, Denny Destructful (Denis Glackin) on guitar, and Big Ben behind the drum stool. Toward the end of the band’s run, they briefly split before reforming with Petesy Burns taking over bass duties. Denis had written a song called National Front, inspired by a racist coworker he encountered at a training centre on Boucher Road, a self-proclaimed National Front supporter. Written firmly tongue in cheek, the song took aim at the small minded attitudes Denis was surrounded by at the time.

When the band finally came to an end, Petesy Burns took the track with him and it evolved further, eventually mutating into the Stalag 17 anthem Smash the Front.

Denis Glackin passed away on 13th October 2021. Petesy Burns sadly passed away on 1st January 2026.
